ELBERT MONROE GREEN
.  Uncle Ebb as he was know to our family was lost to us until a few years ago.  He was born in June of 1869 in Madison Co. Alabama.  He married a girl named Eleanor in the early 1900s and moved to Childress Tx.  He was listed as a food salesman and spent a lot of time on the road.  I think he may have moved to Dallas before he died.  We had two great uncles and one was a preacher.  He could have been a preacher.  I don't know any of his children or even if he had any.  I only know his wife's first name Eleanor.  They lived in Childress about 20 or 30 years in the early 1900s.  His brothers name was Will, Willie or William

Dollie Mae Green Crone.  She was the daughter of John Thomas Green. She was born May 12, 1894 in Texas.  She was a very small woman only about 4ft 10in tall.  Her husband was Claude Thurman Crone. They were married Jan 3 1911.  Her childrens names were Grover Calvin b. Aug 30 1913; M L born July 11 1919 and Claudia Mae b.Aug 20n 1928.  I don't know if any of them stayed in Childress or not. Anyone knowing anything about these Greens please email me at onejerrygreen@gmail.com  Thanks for your time Jerry Green

I am researching my "KEEL" family. My Great Grandfather J. Vardeman Keel died in Tell, Childress Co. Texas on November 21,1923.  I was told that he lived with one of his son's at the time he died. His son's name is  T.V. (Thomas Vardeman?) KEEL. I have a copy of the Application For Mortuary Warrant  signed by his son T.V. Keel  at his death in Childress Co. Texas. I also have his " Soldiers Application for a Pension "  as he was a Confederate Veteran of the Civil War. I was fortunate to obtain these from the Holdings of the Texas State Archives. He also was  a member of the UCV, United Confederate Veterans. I have a picture of him when he attended a UCV affair at Blossom, Texas, when he was about 90 years of age, as I was told by my Mother  Nettie Muriel Keel Roberts. He was wearing his war medals and the badge or tag with UCV and Blossom Texas on it. I would so much like to hear from anyone who has any information on this family. Especially information about his wife my great Grandmother who was half Indian. Thank you Bettie (Roberts) Miller

Seeking any information on McCains related to William McCain and Susan Thomas. William and Susan were married in GA and had 13 children, their son Walter (my grandfather) b 1880 and siblings lived in Childress County. Any info on where William and Susan are buried would be much appreciated. - Barbara Griffin

I am searching for the families of John David Conn, born ~ 1842 in GA and Tina-Tima-Timie Carter Conn, born, ~ 1847 in AL, who came to Yell Co.,  AR, by 1880 Census time. We think Timie after mothering only 14 children must have died in the early 1900s and certainly by 1930 as a daughter Macie (an old maid) was living between her brothers.  We think John David started to move about with his boys. They were all believed to be in  Mena in Polk Co., AR by early 1900s,  and by 1930 the most of then had moved between Mena and Childress, TX. We think  John David Conn probably traveled with the sons, on to TX.  Of the 14 children in the family Nine have been named,  but 5 remain unknown.
1. A son John William Conn, born ca, 1868 in AL,  and wife Minnie Gossett,  were in Blossom, Lamar Co., TX,  by 1930 Census and raised their family there.  John died in Dec 1947 and Minnie died in 1943. They are buried with family in Knights of Honor Cemetery at Blossom, TX.
2. A son Greenberry Voley Conn born ca. 1875 in AR, by 1905 was married and owned land near Mena, in Fulton in Polk Co., AR.  He became a member of the Cherry Hill Methodist Church and started his family there. His wife Pearl Dorough died in 1911, and he remarried to a lady named May H. (maiden name unknown). He was there in 1920 with wife May, and  by 1930, He had moved his family to Childress, TX..  His sister Macie D. Conn shows on the census as resided with him then. This is an indication that her mother had passed away.   G.V. Conn died in Jan 1953, in Childress TX and is buried in Childress Cemetery as is his 2nd wife May H. Conn and his son Merrell Herbert Conn.
3. A son, Ora C. Conn born 1890 in AR. and wife Pearl Miller Conn , by 1930 were also in Lamar Co. TX,  but not at blossom.  By 1938,  his descendents were showing up in Vernon, TX   as  in vital records. Ora was still residing in Vernon in 1953, but Ora and Pearl's last known address was in Grand Prairie, TX.  He died there in Mar 1963.  Social Security death index show that as their last residence. Pearl died in Apr 1983.  We don't know when he moved there or where their burial site is located.
4. A son Thomas D. Conn born ca. 1878 in AR, married in Yell County, AR on Dec 4 1898. to Linia Carter. Nothing more is known of them and
5. A son James A. Conn, born 1873 in AR, I  also no record of him.   These two brothers have not yet been located but believed they also moved to TX.  If anyone can help in locating them it will be appreciated.
6. A daughter Macie D. Conn born 1892, in AR, was an old Maid and never married,  In 1930 she was in the household of her brother G.V Conn, in Childress, TX.  He died, and by February 1953 she resided in Vernon, TX , with her brother Ora Conn.   Social Security death index shows her last residence as Vernon, TX and she died  in Mar 1983.
7. A daughter Sarah F.  Conn born about 1871 in MS, married in Yell Co., AR on May 20 1888, to W.H. Hatch and I have no further record on them.
8. A daughter Pearl Conn,  born 1881 in AR, married James Rowland and raised their family in Yell Co., AR.  He died before 1930 and left Pearl with a family of young children. She married a Mr. Hood and stayed in AR with her family.
9.  A daughter Mary Luella Conn married in 1904 in Yell County, AR to Luther J. Hale and they traveled  back and forth between AR-OK-TX, having children in all states until they finally settled in Morrilton AR.
I am having trouble obtaining a complete family listing and I don't have a for sure name on these children's mother.  Their daughter Mary's funeral records stated that  her mother's name as Timie Carter.  There is some uncertainty on that.  She is listed as Tina on 1880 census and Tima on another 1880 census. Probably a typo. It is believed that once the mother died in early 1900s that John David traveled with the boys to TX and moved about between their homes.  We don't know when or where either John David or Timie died or is buried. I would love to locate his parents and the parents of Timie Carter Conn. I dearly would love to obtain some obituaries of these TX Conn families. I would love to make contact of any known relatives or any researchers working on these families. Any help or contact at all is appreciated.  Please contact me direct.

My grandmother Robert (Bobbie) Belle Dalton was born September 29, 1897 in Childress County, Texas.  Her father was William Dalton and mother listed as Jane.  We are trying to find out when William was born and the year, plus the last name of her mother.  Of the 12 children she and husband John Bunion Faurot had only 4 are now living and they all believe that her mother was Indian and the name Jane was given to her.  Grandma Bobbie was a first cousin to the Dalton Gang family.  I would appreciate any help you can give me.  Thank you, granddaughter to John Faurot and Bobbie Faurot (Dalton).Linda Purucker
