Coral Rankin

CRANE, TX.
Coral Scott Rankin, 85, died Thursday, April 26, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, April 28, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Medley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rankin Cemetery with services under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
She was born March 17, 1916 in Big Spring. She was a welder and was a ship builder during the war, as well as a carpenter. She had owned an oilfield water sales business.
She married W.E. "Billy" Rankin Jan. 13, 1947 in McCamey.
She was preceded in death by her husband Aug.18, 1995.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Williams of San Antonio; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bettye Williams Roberts

Bettye Williams Roberts, of Midland, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, June 1, 2004.
She was a life long member of The Tabernacle Baptist Church in Crane, Texas. She was born May 29, 1927 to Herman Bethel Williams and Bonnie Satterwhite Williams in rural Stephens County and was raised and educated in Crane, Texas. On May 4, 1948 she married Roy Wilson Roberts in Odessa, Texas. Bettye was a member of the 710 Club. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roy Roberts.
Bettye is survived by her children, Mike Roberts and his wife, Becky, of Midland, TX; Patricia Sutton of Midland, TX; Joe Dan Roberts and his wife, Jocelyn, of Fort Collins, CO; twelve grandchildren, three great-granddaughters, Amanda, Shanda and Alisha, two great-grandsons, Brandon and Deven.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Friday, June 4, 2004 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Graveside services have been scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004 at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Sherrye Lee Hannick, Phillip Roberts, David Michael Roberts, Karin Haun, Roy Dan Dismuke, Samantha Roberts, Nickolas Roberts, Duke Roberts, Matt Roberts, Stephen Roberts, Seth Roberts, Christian Roberts and Michael Shane Bilbrey.
Memorials may be directed to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, North Carolina 28201.

Raymond Roycroft

Raymond Roycroft, age 65, passed away Monday, April 23, 2001 in Seguin, Texas.
He was born in Goliad, Texas on November 8, 1935 and attended school there where he was active in the high school band, baseball and UIL activities.
He received his BA degree in mathematics from Texas A&M University in 1958 and his MED from Southwest Texas State University in 1968. During his senior year at TAM, he served as drum major of the Maroon Band.
Raymond taught math in Rankin for four years, Denver City, Texas for six years, Littlefield for three years and Crane for 17 years before he retired. He sponsored UIL math and number sense events at these schools and had students advance to state competition in number sense. Following his retirement from teaching in 1991, he and his wife, Ima Gene, continued to reside in Crane but spent much of their time in Harwood, Texas at he family ranch.
Mr. Roycroft is survived by his loving wife, Ima Gene Bouldin Roycroft of Crane, whom he married on August 6, 1960 in Goliad, Texas. Other survivors include his sister, Laverne Wiebe of San Antonio, Texas; a niece, Debbie Scheible of San Antonio, Texas; two nephews, Mike Wiebe of Denver, Colorado and Ronnie Wiebe of San Antonio, Texas and a host of ex-students whom he called "our kids".
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Earl Roycroft on July 4, 1941 and his mother, Lela Clanton Roycroft Diebel, on January 8, 1997.
Funeral services for Mr. Roycroft will be held Thursday, April 26, 2001 at 10:00 a.m., in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home, Luling, Texas. The Reverend Craig Mull from the First Methodist Church of Crane, Texas will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Harwood Cemetery in Harwood, Texas.
Those who will honor Raymond by serving as pallbearers will be some of his former students,
Roy Winters, Larry Braden, James Jurock, John Soto, Gene Richardson and Bob Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Hailey, Bob Clark, Gerry Parker and Joe Allen.
Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home, Luling, Texas.

Raul Sanchez JR

CRANE -- Raul G. Sanchez, Jr., 46 of Crane, died Friday, April 18, in San Antonio.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday, April 21, in the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the Crane County Exhibition Building. Burial will be in the Crane County Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
Raul was born on May 25, 1956 in Monahans. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the AirBorn Rangers. He married Twilah Edwards on Dec. 31, 1979 in Rankin.
He was a parole officer for the State of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Ray Sanchez.
Survivors include his wife, Twilah Sanchez of Crane; his children, Shaun Sanchez, Melissa Sanchez, and Daniel Sanchez, all of Crane; a grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Natalia Abalos Sandoval

CRANE
Natalia Abalos Sandoval, 70 of Crane, died on Saturday, Nov. 29, in the Medical Center Hospital.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today, Dec. 1, in the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Nilo Nalugon officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery under the direction Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
She was born Aug. 31, 1933 in Rankin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Juan Sandoval of Crane; son, Russell Sandoval of Crane; daughters, Janie Prieto of Odessa and Chris Payan of Crane; three brothers, Frank Abalos and Brijido Esparza, both of Rankin, Andres Abalos of Robston; two sisters, Josie Mata of Odessa and Lola Watson of Rankin; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

TINER David
CRANE

David Daniel Tiner, 91, of Crane, died Thursday, October 24, 2013, at the Crane Nursing Home in Crane, Texas.
He was born July 21, 1922, in Malakoff, Texas to Lone Ridge and Lillie Tiner. He married Margaret Crouch in Waco in 1949, which resulted in 58 years of marriage, which ended with her passing in 2007.
David served 4 years in the
Navy during WWII as a Radarman on the USS Lawrence. Mr. Tiner proudly served his country from June 1942 until December 1945, when he was honorably discharged.
David earned a BA in 1949 and an MA in 1950 from Baylor University. He began a 37-year-long teaching career, beginning in Waco and ending in Crane with his retirement in 1987.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents; 4 brothers; and 4 sisters.
He is survived by his three children, Robin Tiner, Danella (Mrs. Ralph) Cockrell, and Tommy Tiner; grandchildren, Georgia Hayes, Brad Cockrell, and Erica Tiner; sister, Hazel Segrest; numerous nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends and former students.
Private funeral services are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane.

Margaret Crouch Tiner

CRANE, TX.
Margaret Elizabeth Tiner, 84 years old, beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter and grandmother, passed quietly to the Lord on Saturday, August 11, 2007, at Hospice House in Odessa. Margaret was born on February 2, 1923, in Ft. Worth to the Reverend E.H. and Ura Georgia (Hallmark) Crouch, and was the first of two children born to the Crouches. Her brother, Major Edward Crouch (Air Force) preceded her in death in 2006, as did her parents in 1974.
As a baby less than one year old, Margaret accompanied her family to northeastern Brazil where her parents spent 25 years as Southern Baptist missionaries. Margaret was home schooled by her teacher mother the first five years of her public school age, and she was fluent in both English and Portuguese. Margaret stayed in Brazil until the age of 12, at which time she returned to the states and completed her public education at San Marcos Baptist Academy in San Marcos, Texas, while her parents continued serving the Lord as missionaries in Brazil. After graduating from the Academy, Margaret attended Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton her freshman college year and then transferred to Baylor University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education in 1944. Margaret was a member of Alpha Omega Sorority while at Baylor.
Margaret taught public school for two years before meeting the love of her life, David Daniel Tiner, also an educator. They married in Waco on August 20, 1949.
Mrs. Tiner taught a total of 27 years. Of those 27 years, she spent 9 years teaching Spanish and art in Temple, Texas and 18 years teaching 4th grade in Crane. Margaret was a third generation teacher, and she, her mother and her maternal grandmother all graduated from Baylor with public school teaching degrees.
Margaret had great faith in the Lord and loved her church in Crane. She also enjoyed playing the piano, traveling around the world with her friends and family, taking pictures of friends and loved ones, square dancing, quilting, playing dominoes and spending time with her grandchildren. Margaret was a loving and gentle person with a genuine love for all people.
She is survived by her husband, David Tiner of Crane; three children, Robin Tiner of Crane, Danella Cockrell and husband, Dr. Ralph of Odessa, Texas and Tommy Tiner of Abilene,Texas. She is survived by three grandchildren, Brad Cockrell, Georgia Hayes and Erica Tiner.
Pallbearers will be Brad Cockrell, Bozo Edwards, Jimmy Shipman, Arnold Durham, Ronnie Warren and John Paul Loyless.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Crane with Johnny Thomason officiating. Burial will follow at the Crane County Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
Memorials can be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Mission Offering or the Annie Armstrong Mission through the First Baptist Church, 101 East 20th Street, Crane, Texas 79731.

Michael Woods

Michael James Woods, 41, of Clyde died Wednesday July 28, 2004 at an Abilene Hospital.
Michael was born April 1, 1963 in Odessa, Texas to Jim and Doris Woods. He grew up and attended school in Crane, TX, graduating from Crane High School. After graduating, Michael joined the United States Army, serving from 1981 until 1983 at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii.
He married Tommye Parker in Odessa on February 6, 1993. Michael worked as the Warehouse Manager for Harbison-Fisher Production Pumps of Abilene for the past three years.
Above and beyond that, Michael was truly a devoted son, father and husband. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Michael is survived by his wife Tommye; children Jacob Michael and Rachel June; parents Jim and Doris Woods of Odessa; sister Deborah Franklin and husband Mike of Midland; niece Desiree Farmer and husband Jayme and great niece, Demi all of Midland; paternal grandmother Gerdeane Woods Walker of Graham; mother and father-in-law, Jim and Faye McKee of Gordon; Brothers and sister-in-law Johnny and Carla Parker of Midland, Sue and Larry Jackson of Odessa, Deanna and Mike Hamilton of Odessa, Joseph Parker of Kingsland, Pamela and Blake Bayer of Liberal, KS, Mary and Dennis Hamilton of Austin; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Tim Evans, Jr. Juarez, Paul Turnacliff, Jimmy Don Robinson, Buddy Jenkins, and Don Heald.
Visitation with family will be from 6-8 pm on Friday at Frank W Wilson Funeral Directors in Odessa. Services will be Saturday July 31, 2004 at 2:00 pm at the Sherwood Baptist Church of Odessa with Rev Elwin Collum and Rev Amon Langston officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
