GLADEWATER'S FIRST "REAL" SCHOOL BUILDING

By 1895, the town was ready to erect its first school building.   The school was located where the Hugman-
Kent Clinic is now located.  Mr T A Coleman was the first teacher in this building, and Miss Minnie
Foshee was employed to teach with him.  There were eighty-one pupils.  Trustees for the school were
W S Austin, Oliver Bruce, and R M Holcroft.
