NOTE: This one was not in the book - sent in by Rita Don Carlos - DonCarlos, William Russell Jr. Son of W R & Hazel DonCarlos Sr. Attended Spring Hill School in Longview, Tx. Enlisted in the U S Army Air Corps in 1942. Served as a waist gunner and top turret gunner on B-24s as a member of the 466th Bombardment Group stationed at Attlebridge, England. The group flew its first combat mission on March 22, 1944, for which they received official commendation from Gen. James H Doolittle for combat achievement to a target in Berlin. It was the longest initial assault ever flown by any unit in the history in the European Theater and one of the heaviest bombardments on record of the German capital.
Dorrouth, Lafon R - MM Lafon R Dorrouth, son of Mr & Mrs V E Dorrouth, attended Gladewater HS. Entered the Merchant Marines in 1944; trained at St Petersburg, Fla. Has made two trips to the South Pacific. Has three service Bars for Atlantic, Pacific and Medical Duty. No on transport duty in the Atlantic.

Duncan, William L - Cpl William L Duncan, son of Mr & Mrs W E Duncan; attended Kilgore HS; entered Air Corps, Dec 8, 1942; trained Sheppard Field, Texas; served Africa, England, France, S America; and has Good Conduct Medal, ETO with 7 Battle Stars, Pres. Citation. Now on duty at B. Guinea.
Dunn, Joseph G - Pfc Joseph G Dunn, son of Mr & Mrs R F Dunn and husband of Dorris Dunn; entered the Marines May 13, 1942; trained at San Diego, Calif. Has served in Australia and New Guinea. Was discharged June 15, 1945.
Duplissey, Clarence W - Capt Clarnece W Duplissey, who attended Longview HS and BMI, entered the Air Corps in 1942; trained at Maxwell Field, Ala, Columbus, Miss, Dodge City, Kan. and Barksdale Field, La. Has served in England and France. Holds Air Medal with 12 Oak Leaf Clusters, DFC, and 4 major Battle Stars. Now has discharge.
Dupree, C L - Pvt C L Dupree, son of Mrs M M Dupree, entered the Army in 1942; trained at Jacksonville, Fla. Served in England, where he is still on duty. Pvt Dupree is the brother of Mrs J B Gravley of Longview.

Durham, Jack L - Cpl Jack L Durham, son of Mr & Mrs W A Durham of Gladewater; attended Gladewater HS. Entered the Army in 1942; trained at Baltimore, Md. Has served in the European theater of war where he is still on duty.
Duszik, Willard F - Pfc Willard F Duszik, son of Mrs Ann Duszik, and husband of Louise Weaver Duszik, entered the Army in 1942; served in France, Belgium and Germany, where he was killed in action at the Rhine River on March 15, 1945. Awarded Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and ETO with 1 major Battle Star.
Dye, Clayton G - T/2 Clayton D Dye, son of Mr & Mrs E G Dye and husband of Syblene Womble Dye; attended Pine Tree HS. Entered the Army in 1944; trained at Camp Abbot, Oregon and Ft Lewis, Wash. Has served in France, and Pacific where he is now on duty. Holds ETO Ribbon, Victory Ribbon and P. Ribbon.
