Engaged in four Major Battles with the 30th Div. in the European Theater of War. Holds the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Ribbon, Combat Infantry Medal, Pres. Citation and four Campaign Stars.

Entered the Merchant Marines in 1944; trained at St Petersburg, Fla. Has served in Belgium and South America, now on duty at New Orleans awaiting assignment.

	Gillespie, O B - 1st Lt O B Gillespie, son of Mrs W M Noel, attended Longview HS and BMI. Entered the Inf. in 1940; trained with Natl. Guard for four years. Commissioned 1st Lt April 1943. Has served eleven months in the South Pacific. Killed July 27, 1943 in New Georgia, Island.

	Griffith, T W - ARM 2/c T W Griffith, son of Mr & Mrs T W Griffith, husband of Jessie Joyce Whitmore Griffith; attended Pine Tree HS. Entered Naval Air Corps in 1943; trained at Corpus Christi, Memphis, Tenn. and Pensacola, Fla., where now on duty.
	Grimes, Donald T - Sgt Donald T Grimes, son of Mr & Mrs W R Grimes of Longview; attended Longview HS. Entered Ninth Air Force in 1941. Trained Westover Field, Mass. Has served in 7 countries. Purple Heart, 6 Combat Stars, and DFC. Now on duty in Germany.

Has served in Hawaii, Marshalls, Marianas, New Hebrides, New Caledonia, New Guinea, Maluccas, Philippines, and Boreno. Has AT and AP Ribbons with 5 Stars and Phil. Lib. Ribbon with 2 Stars.
	Grimes, William R - Pfc William R Grimes, son of Mr & Mrs W R Grimes of Longview. Entered the 1st Armored Div in 1942, trained at Camp Gruber, Okla. Has served in North Africa and Italy. Holds Purple Heart, four Battle Stars and Ribbons. Now a patient at Harmon Gen. Hospital. Wounded in Italy.
	Grisby, William H - Ens William H Grisby, son of Mrs Jack Wagers; graduate of Kilgore HS, Kilgore College; entered Navy Jun 13, 1942; trained at Pensacola, Lake City, Fla. Served South America. Killed in crash over Savannah, Ga. Had American Area Campaign Medal.
	Grisham, William G - Cpl William G Grisham, son of Mr & Mrs W A Grisham, husband of Beatrice Samples. Entered Army Air Corps in Feb. 1943; trained at Camp Wolters. Has served in Scotland, Ireland, England, France, Holland, Belgium. Holds Good Conduct Medal; on duty with 42nd Dept. Rep. Squadron in Germany.
