Adams III, Thomas F. Services for Thomas F. Adams III will be at noon Friday, October 19, 2007, at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. E.L. Lockett officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery, under the direction of Bigham Mortuary. Mr. Adams was born June 26, 1925, in Selma, Alabama, to the parentage of Thomas and Hallie Adams. He attended public schools in Selma, and continued his education at Morehouse in construction engineering. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He received an honorable discharge. After working with his father in the construction business, he later formulated his own business. In 1971, he formed A&A Construction Co. and was involved in the construction industry for more than 50 years. At a very early age, he accepted Christ. He united with Shiloh Baptist Church in 1971, where he had served in the capacity of Sunday school superintendent and trustee chairman. Mr. Adams supervised many of the remodeling projects at Shiloh and constructed various churches across the state of Texas. Other affiliations included: The Top Hat Social Club; Elisha Lodge No. 106 PHA; The Wayfarers', Inc.; King Solomon Consistory No. 20; and the Sinai Temple No. 59 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was also the first black president of East Texas Home Builder's Association in Longview. One grandchild, John Mario Adams; and one great-grandson, Prince Warren, preceded Mr. Adams in death. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Dorris Y. Adams; and three children: Thomas Adams IV and wife, Rosalynn of San Jose, California; Wayne L. Snoddy and wife, Linda of Longview; and Theresa Pryor of Tyler. He also has four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; Aunt Mattie; other relatives; and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Tom Adams Memorial Scholarship Fund, Shiloh Baptist Church, P.O. Box 150037, Longview, TX 75615.
