Monday July 18, 1927 E. H. Bussey, President of Rembert National Bank Dies at Home Sunday Afternoon Edward H. Bussey, 56 years old, for twenty-five years one of the leading bankers in East Texas and president of the Rembert national Bank, died Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock at his home on North Center Street after an illness of six weeks. Mr Bussey was an organizer of the local Rotary club and serviced as its first president. He was also prominent in the First baptist church and was a leader in all civic organizations in the city. Mr bussey has been ill for a number of years and lately confined to his home. Other than president of the Rembert National Bank he had serviced as cashier of the Citizens National Bank. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church at 4 o'clock this afternoon, with the Rev. John L. Whorton, pastor conducting the services, assisted by all other pastors of the city and the Rev. A. A. Duncan, of Dallas, former pastor here. Burial in the Grace Hill cemetery. He is survived by his son, Dr. J. E. Bussey, of this city, a brother, J. W. Bussey of Tyler, a sister, Mrs Eliza Bonham, of Memphis, Tenn., and a nephew Dr. E. J. Gee, of Wills Point, Texas and Mrs Reagon Wyche, of here and Miss Lila Mae Bussey of Tyler. Mr Bussey came here when he was seventeen years old and was first employed as a bookkeeper in the store of the late John Walke, a merchant at that time. Later, he served Womack and Terry, wholesale and retail merchants, also as a bookkeeper, and afterwards entered the banking business at the citizens National Bank. He became president of the Rembert Natinal Bank in 1917, when that instution was organized. The active pallbearers were: J. C. Turner, W. B. Smith, A. L. Mann, L. Birdsong, Smith Price, E. B Prothro, Dr. W.D. Northcutt, Oliver Daniels, T. B. Stinchcomb, and L. D. Kelly.
