Cook, Virginia Dare Armstrong "VA" Virginia Dare "VA" Armstrong Cook passed away peacefully on April 21, 2006, in Everett, Wash., after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. VA was born in Bruce, Miss., and she was the fourth of six children. She worked for Capital Airlines and Delta Airlines as a flight attendant, and married James Cook Sr. in 1954. They settled in Longview in 1958. VA was the devoted mother of two sons, Dr. Jay Cook of Everett, Wash., and Frank Cook of Houston. She was also the proud grandmother of Ryan and Madeline Cook; and loving mother-in-law of Christine Cook. She was happy to spend her last five years near her grandchildren in Washington. She is also survived by three sisters, Corrine Armstrong of Memphis, Tenn., Grace Jackson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Libby Tutor of Memphis, Tenn.; and one brother, George "Pete" Armstrong of Tupelo, Miss. Services will be held Memorial Day weekend at Rosewood Cemetery in Longview.
