Curry, Harry Lee Harry Lee Curry Harry Lee Curry, 65, went to meet his Lord early Saturday morning, February 17, 2007, at home following a lengthy illness. He was a wonderful husband, father, granddad, uncle, son and brother. He was everything. As a young man, he excelled at track and basketball, along side his twin brother, Larry, at Beckville High. Their senior year, they led their school to the State Track Meet running the mile. After graduating high school, he and Larry went on to Stephen F. Austin State University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics. During his college years, he met the love of his life, Sandra. At the skating rink in Marshall, she won his heart with just a smile and a wink--a true love story, united in marriage October 16, 1964. He enjoyed gardening, playing 42 with his family and taking Sandra on horse and buggy rides on nice afternoons. Harry had two children, Michael and Marcia, providing them all the love, support, and wise counsel needed enabling them to reach their goals, while always recognizing the importance of continued faith in the Lord and family. He was an active member at Trinity Baptist Church, where he served faithfully on many committees. In addition, he unselfishly chose to help Sandra continue teaching her 5-year-olds Sunday school class once she became ill. An extra sparkle was added to his eyes with the addition of each grandchild. Granddad, as he became known, loved attending all school and sporting events, even as his health began to fail him. He chose early retirement from Texas Utilities after 17 years in order to care for and spend extra time with his beloved wife, Sandra. Throughout the next nine years, his faithful love and tender care continued to sustain her. Survivors include his wife, Sandra of Hallsville; children, Michael Curry and wife, Beckie, of Hallsville and Marcia Oxsheer and husband, Mike, of Hallsville; grandchildren, Danielle and Nick Curry and Mason and Luke Oxsheer, all of Hallsville; mother, Cleo Curry of Carthage; sisters, Jan Turner and husband, Kane, of El Dorado, Arkansas, and June Dyke and husband, Billy, of Carthage; brothers, Larry Curry and wife, Emily, of Texarkana, Texas, James D. Curry and wife, Myra, of Beckville and Gene Curry of Beckville; and brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Barbara Weaver of Hallsville. He was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Curry, and brother, Claude Curry. A homegoing service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at Trinity Baptist Church of Lakeport. Burial will follow in Rosewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home of Longview from 6-8 p.m. today, February 19, 2007.
