Douglas, David Preston Services for David Preston Douglas, 62, of Gladewater, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at Welch Funeral Home with Dr. Jay McCasland officiating. Burial will follow in Summerfield Cemetery. Mr. Douglas died Saturday in a local hospital. Mr. Douglas was born December 6, 1943, to Johnnie Preston and Marie Goforth Douglas in Abilene. He had been a resident of East Texas since 1992, and attended North Longview Baptist Church. Mr. Douglas was also a member of the Choctaw Indian Tribe and enjoyed restoring classic cars. He was preceded in death by his father; grandchildren, Chase and Autumn Farley; and brother, Dyle Douglas. Mr. Douglas is survived by his wife, Gloria Douglas of Gladewater; mother and stepfather, Marie Douglas Lynch and husband, Eddie; daughter and son-in-law, Melonie and Bubba Smith, all of Hobbs, New Mexico; grandchildren, Meagan, Holden and Chesney, all of Hobbs, New Mexico; mother-in-law, Evelyn Johnson of Longview; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Rita Johnson of Lufkin; brother-in-law, Champ Johnson; and brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Shari Johnson, all of Longview; stepbrother, Bart Lynch of Hobbs, New Mexico; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
