Day Jr., Caro Lee Graveside services for Caro Lee Day Jr., 94, of Longview, will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2007, at Rosewood Park, to be followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Winterfield United Methodist Church. The Rev. Rita Sims will officiate each service under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Day was born on August 28, 1912, in Slocum, to Caro Lee and Sadie Walters Day. Mr. Day graduated from Palestine High School. Later he attended Lon Morris College and Sam Houston State University, where he obtained his teaching certificate. He taught at several schools in the Anderson County area. He coached basketball at Cayuga, where they won the State Basketball Championship in 1947. He retired as safety engineer from Hughes Tool Company after more than 25 years of service. Mr. Day was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, of more than 70 years, Lola Mae; sisters, Marie and Eloise; and a brother, Walters Day. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Billie Jo and Joe Holmes of Oklahoma City, Okla.; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Frances Day of Longview; two grandsons, Zachary and Nathan Day of Longview; one granddaughter, Sheri Taggart and her husband, Lynn, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; as well as two great-grandchildren, John and Jace Taggart. Pallbearers will be Phillip Day, Cody Day, Dan Day, Benjamin Day, Ian Day, Zachary Day, Nathan Day and Joe Holmes.
