Detmore, Elvie Ann Tesch Funeral services for Elvie Ann Tesch Detmore, 88, of Brenham, formerly a longtime resident of Longview, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, with the Reverend Kevin Wittmayer and Verger John C. Murphy officiating. Entombment will be in Rosewood Park Mausoleum. She passed away May 2, 2007, at Kruse Memorial Village Nursing Home in Brenham, after suffering a severe stroke in April. Mrs. Detmore, also a recent resident of Houston, was born January 3, 1919, in Oakland, to Albert Gus and Annie Louise Tesch. Elvie attended school in Oakland, Sublime and Schulenberg, and she attended business school in Houston. She married Glenn Arly Detmore on March 20, 1947, and they were married 56 years, before his death in December 2003. She and her husband, Glenn, both excellent golfers, enjoyed playing golf and traveling. Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Maxine Louise Wilson and husband, Richard of Houston; stepsister, Marguerite Hutchins of Brazorias; two half-brothers, A.G. Tesch and wife, Dorothy of Kenney, and Alton Tesch and wife, Marilyn of Abita Springs, La.; two half- sisters, Doris Mays and husband, Bill of Brenham, and Barbara Dobson and husband, Al of Richmond; stepdaughters, Deanna Avant and husband, Dale of Oakdale, Calif., and Carolyn Larson and husband, Al of Midland; two grandsons, David and Jeffrey; granddaughter, Denise; great- granddaughter, Brianne; great-grandson, Joe; two great-great- granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
