Dowell, Thomas E. "Tom" A celebration of the life of Thomas E. "Tom" Dowell, 57, of Gilmer, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007, at Mobberly Baptist Church, with Dr. Greg Zackary and Dottie Bachtell officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Tom was an example of a transformed life after he accepted Christ as his Savior. The Lord's presence was a great comfort to him in dealing with his cancer. Tom was surrounded by family when he went to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, May 23, 2007. He was born December 27, 1949, in Watseka, Illinois, to Edward and Loma Dowell. He was a tool and die maker for STEMCO, a member of the Mobberly Baptist Church and served his country in the U.S. Army. Tom was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and Eddie Ritzma of Gilmer; brother, Terry Dowell of Gilman, Illinois; daughter and son- in-law, Michele and Chris Edwards of Onarga, Illinois; grandchildren, Zachary and Grace Edwards and fiancee', Vickie Walker of Gilmer; several nieces and nephews; and special people in Tom's life: Bill Smith; Carol Dowell; STEMCO co-workers; and his Sunday school class at Mobberly. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening, May 25, 2007, at the funeral home. A memorial guestbook may be signed at www.raderfh.com.
