Gibson, Jimmie DeWitt CARTHAGE - Services for Jimmie DeWitt Gibson, 82, of Carthage, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Harry LaGrone officiating. Interment will be in Kilgore City Cemetery. Mrs. Gibson died May 19, 2007, in Kilgore. Born March 27, 1925, in Panola County, she worked as head seamstress and supervisor for Nardis of Dallas, Laird Middle School for Kilgore ISD, and was a longtime member of Forest Home Baptist Church in Kilgore. Survivors include her son, John DeWitt; and daughter, Sharon Bush. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, May 21, 2007, at the funeral home. Mrs. Jimmie Cloteal Gibson was born March 27, 1925, in Panola County, Texas, to William and Cammie Leona McNeese Wimberley. She graduated from Leverett's Chapel schools in rural Rusk County. Jimmie worked as head seamstress and supervisor for Nardis of Dallas and later Laird Middle School for Kilgore ISD. She married Delbert L. DeWitt, who preceded her in death in 1974, and later married Joe Gibson who died in 2005. Mrs. Gibson placed her Lord and family above all else. She was a longtime member of the Forest Home Baptist Church in Kilgore. Jimmie's legacy was loving her family and caring for many others in their time of need. She will be missed by the many friends whose lives she touched. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Cammie Jean Burkett, Wilma Lawhorn, Christene Kees, Herman Bagley, Waymon Bagley, Gertrude Sistrunk and Lillian Jernigan. She is survived by her son, John DeWitt and wife, Gingie, of Kilgore; daughter, Sharon Bush and husband, Marlin, of Rehobeth; grandchildren, Staci Davis and husband, Mark, of Carthage, Amy Clinton and husband, Don, of Snap community, Kiley Schumacher and husband, Shawn, of Carthage, and Cody DeWitt and wife, Ray, Jean of Kilgore; and great-grandchildren, Keaton, Conner and Cammie Elizabeth Davis, Cole and Cooper Clinton, Si and Zane Schumacher and Brycen DeWitt. Pallbearers will be Mark Davis, Don Clinton, Shawn Schumacher, Charlie Lawhorn, Edward Murphy and Melvin Minter. Memorials may be made to Adams Cemetery Association.
