Hall, Catherine Alice Sturgis Catherine Alice Sturgis Hall, a resident of Longview, went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2006. Mrs. Hall was 85 years of age. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don T. Hall; daughter, Debra Carter; and parents, Thomas L. and Bessie Jane Sturgis. Survivors are her children, Wally Edge and wife, Peggy of Plano, Billy Edge Sr. and wife, Elaine of Longview, Donna Clinnard and husband, Sid of White Oak, and Donie Hall and wife, Gladys of Monroe, Louisiana. Surviving siblings are Colleen Palmer, Norma Trumbull and husband, Ted, and Virginia Sue Anderson and husband, Don. Grandchildren include Mark Edge, Billy Edge Jr., Roni and David Enderle, Matt Clinnard, Trent and Christy Clinnard, Wendy Carter, Chris and Melissa Carter, and Scott and Sheri Saterfiel. Mrs. Hall also had six great-grandchildren. Additionally, there are many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Hall graduated from White Oak High School in 1939, and was salutatorian of her graduating class. She worked as a payroll clerk in the early 1950's and spent the rest of her years as a wife, mother, grandparent, and friend to many. She was a kind, compassionate woman and was well-known for her faith in God and her infectious, ever present smile. All who knew her were greatly encouraged by her positive, "can do" approach to life. She will be missed, but has left a legacy benchmark for those who knew her. Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2006, at the Greggton Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Witcher and the Rev. W.V. Voss officiating. Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Greggton Missionary Baptist Church.
