Head, Barbara Ashwell "Bobbie" 

Services for Barbara "Bobbie" Ashwell Head, 75, of Longview, will be 10 a.m. Monday, 
July 17, 2006, in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Rev. Dick 
Stagner officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Head passed 
away Friday morning at her home in Longview. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today, 
July 16, 2006, at the funeral home. Mrs. Head was born March 14, 1931, in Parkersburg, 
W.Va. to Wilbur and Mavis Ashwell. She grew up in Parkersburg where she graduated high 
school in 1949. She met her husband, Francis T. Head, in Shreveport, La., and they were 
married there on September 30, 1949. She was a homemaker and worked at Western Electric 
from 1965 to 1975. In 1975, her husband retired from the Shreveport Police Department, 
and they moved to Longview, Texas. She worked at various jobs, but what she enjoyed most 
was being a homemaker, wife and mother. Mrs. Head was a member of New Beginnings Baptist 
Church in Longview. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Lorraine A. 
Harrelson. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Francis T. Head; five sons and one 
daughter: David F. Head and his wife, Sandi, of Dallas; Robert P. Head and his wife, Cheryl, 
of Shreveport; Richard L. Head and his wife, Ruthie, of Alvarado; John T. Head and his wife, 
Carole, of Hallsville; James A. Head and his wife, Tammy, of Lufkin; and Susan Head Stewart 
and her husband, James, of Longview; brother and sister-in-law, W. Lee and Janice Ashwell of 
Parkersburg, W.Va.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and 
nephews. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund Projects at New Beginnings Baptist 
Church, 600 George Richey Road, Longview, Texas 75604 or to a charity of choice. A memorial
