Hunt, Samuel Louis The battle is over. The victory is won . Services for Samuel L. Hunt, 81, of White Oak, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Center Baptist Church, with the Rev. W. Scott Pannell officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are by Stanmore Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Hunt died Saturday, July 21, 2007, in Longview. My beloved husband and my children's father went home to see the Lord after a courageous fight. He was born June 1, 1926, in Gregg County. He was the fifth child born to the late Jim and Sally Johnson Hunt. Mr. Hunt retired after 31 years as a supervisor and crane engineer for T&T Pipe Line, a subsidiary of Lone Star Steel. Throughout his life, he remained a constant provider and supporter for our family. A source of strength and dependability to all who knew him. He leaves to mourn a beautiful wife and soul mate of 59 years, Leneva; four sons, Wardell of Longview, Leavell (Valerie) of Nacogdoches, Sammy K. of Dallas, and Byron of East Rutherford, New Jersey; four daughters, Claudetta (Jim) Parker of Houston, Sandra of White Oak, Amelia of Houston, and Cheryl of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Georgia Murray of Los Angeles, California; one brother, Edward Hunt of Sherman; a special niece, Jewel Faye Manns of Longview; and a host of others, including nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is the father of two White Oak High School standouts, Sam Hunt, formerly of the New England Patriots, and Byron Hunt, formerly of the New York Football Giants.
