Masters, Willis F. "Will" Mass of Christian burial for Willis F. "Will" Masters, 83, of Longview, will be held at noon Friday, June 15, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Gavin Vaverek officiating. Entombment will follow in Rosewood Park Mausoleum. He passed away June 12, 2007. Mr. Masters was born May 2, 1924, in Munising, Michigan. He attended the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and he worked many years as a sales representative for Champion International Paper Co., formerly Nationwide Papers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Houston, Texas. Upon his retirement, he moved to Longview to be near his son, Roger and his family. He was a man of great faith and was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather. He served our country during World War II in the U.S. Navy, and he did it with a great deal of pride. He was an avid golfer at Oak Forest Country Club, now Oak Forest Sports Club. He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Masters. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Vera Masters; daughter-in-law, Pamela "Sam" Masters of Longview; grandson, David Masters and wife, Shelly of Austin; granddaughters, Sarah Masters and her fiancée, Devin Mooney of Denton and Joie Lisa Masters Robinson and husband, Scotty of Denton; sister, Ruth Schumacher of Munising, Michigan; brother, Chester Masters also of Munising, Michigan; and two great-grandchildren, Rylee and Owen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Mary's Catholic School Library, 2108 Ridgewood Dr., Longview, TX 75605. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. this evening, June 14, 2007, at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 11:30 a.m. Friday, prior to services, at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
