Robertson, Phillip Leslie "Sonny" KILGORE -- Services for Phillip Leslie "Sonny" Robertson, 71, of Kilgore, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2006, at the First Christian Church, with the Reverend Bill Blanks officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Rusk County Memorial Gardens. Mr. Robertson died Wednesday, December 13, 2006, in Tyler, Texas. He was born December 31, 1935, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His family moved to his home town, Kilgore, Texas, when he was only six-months old. Sonny was a graduate of Kilgore High School, Kilgore College, and Troy State University. He married Imogene Brown on May 11, 1958. Mr. Robertson joined the United States Air Force in 1958. He was a classified special agent, serving in the Office of Special Investigation, both domestic and abroad. He was also attached to the Defense Investigation Service at the end of his career. Sonny held a private airplane pilots license. After his retirement in 1979, Sonny moved back to Kilgore. He was the terminal manager for Acme Truck Lines in Kilgore from 1980-1990. Mr. Robertson was a 50-year member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed music and fishing, but most of all, being "PaPaw" to his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Melbourne Robertson. Sonny is survived by his wife, Imogene "Jean" Robertson of Kilgore; two sons, Rob Robertson of League City, Texas, and Phil Robertson of Kilgore; his mother, Marge Robertson of Kilgore; two brothers, James Robertson of Bellevue, Washington, and David Robertson of Henderson, Texas; a sister, Carolyn Johnston of Kilgore; four grandchildren, Zachary Robertson of League City, Makenzie Robertson of Kilgore, Joshua Robertson of League City, and Alayna Robertson of Kilgore; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 609 E. Main St., Kilgore, TX 75662.
