Reed, Jim Jim Reed, 70, of Longview, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2007, in Longview, Texas. He was born March 14, 1937, in Pineville, Louisiana, to Jack and Florence Reed. He had lived in Longview for 66 years. Jim graduated from Longview High School in 1955 and attended East Texas State University on a football scholarship. He went on to play professional football for the St. Louis Cardinals. His career included coaching at Judson Middle School and Longview High School. Mr. Reed was an assistant principal for Foster Middle School and went on to be the director of plant and maintenance for the Longview Independent School District. He retired from LISD after 30 years of service. Jim is survived by his daughter, Laura Reed; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Mikki Reed; grandsons, Jacob and Coltin Reed; and a granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by a brother and sister- in-law, Jack and Martha Reed; several nieces and nephews; and sister, Margaret Hilton. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Gregg County Humane Society or to a favorite charity.
