Rice, Thelma A. Sanders  
 	
Services for Thelma A. Sanders Rice, 87, of Longview, 
formerly of Oil City, La., will be at 1 p.m. Monday, 
February 19, 2007, at Valley View Baptist Church, with 
Dr. Jim Barksdale and the Rev. Kenneth Bowden officiating. 
Arrangements are by Welch Funeral Home at 4619 Judson 
Road. Mrs. Rice died February 16, 2007, at her residence. 
Born July 19, 1919, in Gurdon, Ark., she was a retired 
business school instructor and member of Valley View 
Baptist Church. Survivors include her son , Richard B. 
Sanders. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, February 
18, 2007, at the funeral home. An online registry may be

Services for Thelma A. Sanders Rice, 87, of Longview, will 
be at 1 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2007, at the Valley View

Home, 4619 Judson Road. Mrs. Rice passed away Friday, 
February 16, 2007, at her residence. Mrs. Rice was born 
July 19, 1919, in Gurdon, Arkansas, to Thomas Washington 
and Mittie Cordell Doss Roberts. She had been a resident of 
Longview since 1960, coming from Oil City, Louisiana. Mrs. 
Rice was a retired business school instructor and a member 
of the Valley View Baptist Church. Mrs. Rice is survived by 
one son and daughter-in-law, Richard B. and Debbie S. 
Sanders of Green Cove Springs, Florida; one grandson, Jason 
B. Sanders of Newport News, Virginia; and two great-
grandchildren, Canton Sanders-Moffitt and Jordan Sanders. 
The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. today, 
February 18, 2007, at the funeral home. An online registry
