Smith, John S. "Jack" Private family graveside services for John S. "Jack" Smith, 82, of Longview, will be under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road, with Father Kevin Wittmayer officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery. Jack passed away June 21, 2006, at his home after a lengthy illness. Mr. Smith was born December 11, 1923, in Waupaca, Wisconsin, to Stanley and Perle Smith. John was vice president of Titus Manufacturing. He was a member of the Methodist church and Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity at the University of Illinois. Mr. Smith was proud to serve as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II. After raising his family in Waterloo, Iowa, and working for Titus Manufacturing, Jack and Marilyn relocated to Texas to be closer to family. Jack was also proud to serve as president of the Texas Tech Dads Association from 1983-1985. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Titus Smith. He is survived by son, Bob Smith of Wisconsin; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Sue Smith of Waterloo, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Bob Mann of Longview; daughter, Cathy Smith of Lubbock; and grandchildren, Brad and Matthew Smith of Waterloo, Iowa, and Megan, Bobby and Marilyn Mann, all of Longview. A special thanks to the wonderful caregivers Tonya, Natalie, and Helen; and Pine Tree Home Health for their help and kindness.
