Sperlich, Eileen KILGORE -- Services for Eileen Sperlich, 86, of Kilgore, will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2006, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Harry LaGrone officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Ms. Sperlich died Tuesday, August 29, 2006, in Kilgore. Ms. Sperlich was born February 22, 1920, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Willie Sperlich and Beulah Martin Sperlich, who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Kilgore High School and Texas Christian University. Ms. Sperlich went to work for the Kilgore Police Department and maintained all of the department's records as well as being the dispatcher. In the words of one of her former chiefs, "She did it all." She was well-respected by everyone on the police force. Ms. Sperlich retired from the police department after 30 years in 1987. She was a member of First Christian Church of Kilgore. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Ed Merritt; a brother, Frank Sperlich; and a sister, Lavern Wheaton. Ms. Sperlich is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, John and Gloria Sperlich of Arlington; four nephews, Jay Wheaton of Arlington, Steve Sperlich of Longview, Mark Sperlich of Alvin, and Robert Wheaton of Arlington; three nieces, Pam Wheaton of Arlington, Linda Wheeler of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Sue White of Grapevine; special friends, Ronnie and Connie Crutcher of Kilgore, and their children, Alex, Chris and Veronica, Doria Ann Lucas of Kilgore, and Martha Enriquez of Kilgore; and several great-nieces and nephews.
