Spader, Ewald J. Ewald J. Spader, born April 29,1916, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph and Elizabeth Spader, departed this earth on February 8, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Dale and Ron; son-in-law, Dana Tomlinson; and daughter-in-law, Sandy Spader. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Johnnie Spader; sister, Erna Spader of Chicago, Ill., son, Gary of Tinley Park Ill.; daughters, Peggy Froelich of Longview, Texas, and Diana Tomlinson of Conroe, Texas; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Spader of Dixon, Ill. During World War II, Ed served his country in the Army Air Force. Upon his retirement from Textron, Ed relocated to Longview, Texas, in 1972. He then worked for Penney's and later became the manager of Pargas. He was active in Woodman of the World and one of the first graduates of Longview Citizens Police Academy. Ed's funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at First Lutheran Church, where he was a member, council member and faithful Sunday school participant. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park. Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road, Monday February 12, from 5-8 p.m. While we rejoice in his homecoming with our Lord and Savior, we will miss his quick wit and the love he displayed for family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the building fund at First Lutheran Church.
