Verlyn Floyd “Mike” Smith was born December 16, 1940 in Victoria, Texas and died peacefully on December 14, 2014.

Mike lived most of his younger years in Corpus Cristi, Texas. He entered the construction trade at an early age and in his work, he traveled all over Texas and the United States. He owned his own construction business for 20 years. 

Mike married the love of his life, Glenna Kae Farley Smith on April 25, 1964. 

Mike is preceded in death by his son Todd Smith; parents Waitus and Addie Smith; sisters Lois Fetters and Donna Smith; and his devoted sister-in-law Rae Farley Breshears. 

Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years Kae Smith; son Michael Smith and daughter-in-law Tammy; sisters Kathy Toomes and Mary Richardson and brother-in-law Charles Richardson; brothers James Smith and Charles Smith and sister-in-law Ola Smith.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Heart to Heart Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Mike in his final days. Mike touched many lives and will be missed so very much by his family and friends.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday December 20 at 10:00 a.m. at the Alpine Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association or the charity of your choice.
