The Lynching 
 

A dark day in Greenville history occurred in 1908. A young negro boy was accused of raping a white girl. A mob subdued law officers and took justice into their hands. This photo and related story appeared in the Greenville Evening Banner on Sunday, May 7, 1950. It was the Centennial Edition of the newspaper in celebration of 100 years since the founding of Greenville
