Youth Efforts to Portray Life of Christ Nearly Cost Him His Life

Rains County Leader
May 10, 1929 pg. 1

Inspired by a child’s story book on the “Life of Jesus,” as read to him by his mother, little Bobbie Ferguson, aged 6 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ferguson of this city, went into the back yard of his home and endeavored to act the story as his childish imagination pictured it, even to the crucifixion, with the result that it nearly cost him his life.

Bobbie pretended that as the Savior he was in a different city from that in which Jesus was crucified, and that he was first hanged.

His mother found him a short time later lying beneath a tree with a rope coiled around his body and neck, unconscious. Physicians worked over the youth for over an hour before restoring him to consciousness. He had completely recovered today. - - - Greenville Banner
