Fannindel Girls Win Title

Bland Meets Winnsboro

Leonard--Fannindel won the girls championship of the Leonard Tournament on Saturday night, defeating Celeste, 51 - 41. Betty Mills scored thirty - two points to lead Fannindel to the victory, while Martha Sumrow led Celeste with sixteen.

Bland met Whitesboro later Saturday night for the boys' title.

Earlier in the evening, Saltillo won the boys consolidation title by defeating Celeste, 61 - 54. Sam Rayburn captured the girls consolation with a 36 - 22 win over Collinsville.

Whitten's twenty points paced Saltillo to its victory. Harry Childress was high for Celeste with eighteen. Carolyn Bryant scored twenty - two points for the Sam Rayburn girls while Hickman had twelve for Collinsville.

Bland reach the boys championship finals by defeating Wolfe City, 50 - 37 Larry Johnson for Bland and Robert Lewis for Wolfe shared scoring honors with fifteen points each.

Whitesboro earned its berth with a 48 - 43 semi - finals victory over Leonard. Gary Kemp scored nineteen for Whitesboro and Jackie Vaughn thirteen for Leonard.

Fannindel defeated Saltillo 38 - 35 in the girls' semi - finals with Broyles scoring twelve for Fannindel and L. Rogers nineteen for Saltillo. Celeste gained the girls' finals with a 51 - 35 victory over Whitewright. Linda Weatherley scored nineteen points for Celeste while Pam Fagan scored twenty - four for Whitewright.

In the final game of Friday night's session, the Celeste boys defeated Rains, 52 - 29. Frankie Craver scored fifteen for Celeste and Fred Hunter ten for Rains.
