Dr. Felix Adams

Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 18, 1955, in Vinita, Oklahoma, for Dr. Felix Adams, 71, of Vinita, formerly of Celeste.

Dr. Adams, superintendent of Eastern Oklahoma State Hospital for forty-three years, died Saturday, December 17, 1955, of a heart ailment. He was recognized as one of the national's top psychiatrists and in 1954 was named to Oklahoma's Hall of Fame.

Dr. Adams, a 32nd degree Mason, took his premedical training at Baylor University and was graduated from the Barnes School of Medicine in Saint Louis.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dr. Felix Adams, Jr., and John Adams of Vinita; a daughter, Mrs. Phil Salkeld of Quanah; three brothers; three sisters; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Beulah Barnard of Celeste is a relative here, also.

His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Adams. Mr. Adams operated a lumber yard and gin in Celeste for many years.

Dr. Adams recently paid for a memorial pew in the Methodist Church in Celeste in memory of his parents.
