Alice M. Byers

Celeste--Mrs. Alice M. Byers, 91, a resident of Celeste for more than eighty years, died at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Wolfe City Hospital. She was born in Fannin County, near Pike, July 15, 1866, and moved to Celeste at the age of three years.

She was married to R. M. (Robert Mattison) Byers and he preceded her in death in 1937.

Mrs. Byers was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Celeste, where funeral services were to be held at 2:00 PM today (Thursday) with the Rev. H. B. Gideon and the Rev. Albert Click officiating. Burial was to be in Dulaney Cemetery under the direction of James-Coker- Peters Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Byird Glasscoe, Tom Sparks, Ernest Roach, Billy Mulkey. E. H. Blankenship and Lem Warren.

Survivors include three sons, John Byers of Celeste, H. A. Byers of Irving and Joe Byers of Ada, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Alvin Butler of Lubbock.
