Robert Emmett Babers

Funeral services for Robert Emmett Babers, 61, of RR 1, Bonham, were held Sunday afternoon, June 29, 1953, at 3:30 PM at the Wise Funeral Chapel in Bonham. Officiating were the Rev. Charles Graves of Sherman and the Rev. Odie Carry, pastor of the Gober Baptist Church. Interment was made in the Moore's Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Charlie Dale, James Picett, Leonard Ellis, Orville Stoddard, Jim Hewitt , and R. E. Robinson.

Mr. Babers was born on November 21, 1892, in Alabama. He had been a resident of Fannin County since he was three years of age. He as a member of the Gober Baptist Church.

Mr. Babers, a farmer in the Moore Chapel community, had been ill for several months. He passed away at his home in that community at 2:00 AM Saturday, June 28, 1953.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. J. W. Babers of Gober; his widow, Mrs. R. E. Babers; two sons, W. T. Babers of Arlington and Robert Emmett Babers, Jr., of Bonham; five daughters, Mrs. Madeline Ross of Arlington, Mrs. Juanita Wigley of Duncanville, Mrs. Bennie Joe Glover of Arlington, Mrs. Mary Alice Wood of Gonzales, and Miss Betty Sue Babers of Bonham; three brothers, Morris Babers of Celeste, Ance Babers of Gober, and Oscar Babers of Bonham; four sisters, Mrs. Willie Hembree of Leonard, Mrs. Leola Owens of Bonham, Mrs. Irene Woodson, and Mrs. Elsie Turman, both of Gober.
