Florence Littlejohn Bearden

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Bearden, 77, who died at 4:00 AM, Wednesday, April 28, 1954, at her home, were held at 2:30 PM, Thursday, April 29, 1954, at the Celeste Baptist Church. Services were conducted by the Rev. A. F. Click and the Rev. Earl Allen. Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery (Celeste or at Wolfe City?).

Pallbearers were Pete Hudson, Tom Sparks, Jack Ruff, Lem Warren, Herman Compton, and Marshall Swafford.

Death followed an illness of six weeks duration.

Arrangements were in charge of James-Coker-Peters and the body rested at the funeral home until the hour of the service.

Mrs. Bearden, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, was born on January 14, 1877. She had made her home in Celeste for forty-six years and was one of the most prominent women of that section.

Surviving are one son, John Bearden who lived with his mother in Celeste; two daughters, Mrs.. Richard Easley of Celeste and Mrs. C. J. Andrews of Greenville; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Rawls of Celeste, and Mrs. Lena Wade of Arizona; and one brother, George Littlejohn of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Her husband preceded her in death fifty years ago.
