J. W. Brewer

Funeral services were held in Farmersville at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 21, 1954, for W. J. Brewer, 89, who died Monday, December 20, 1954, in a local hospital. He had been in failing health for several months and had been undergoing treatment the past few days in Greenville.

Services for Mr. Brewer were conducted in the First Baptist Church at Farmersville at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 21, 1954 with the Rev. Uldrich Broach of Leonard and the Rev. George Sagen of Greenville conducting the services. Burial was in Webb Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Baker-Fielder Funeral Home in Farmersville.

Mr. Brewer was born on July 12, 1865, in Tennessee and came to Texas when he was fourteen years old and settled in Hickory Creek. He was a retired gin operator and had been connected with Swift Oil Company for thirty-five years.

Farmersville had been the home of Mr. Brewer for the past thirty years where he was a member of the Farmersville Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. Survivors are H. F. Brewer of Greenville; W. J. Brewer, Jr., of Lamesa, Fred Brewer of Huntington Park, California, A. C. Brewer of Kilgore, E. R. Brewer, Ray Brewer, and Roy Brewer of Farmersville, Mrs. A. A. Davy and Miss Mittie Brewer of Farmersville; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. His wife, the former Bettie Taylor of Celeste, preceded him in death several years ago.
