GAINESVILLE — Buena Vesta Dulaney Arey, 101, of Floyd died Sept. 11, 2006, at Park Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Caddo Mills Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville. Dr. Bart Barber will officiate. The daughter of Charlie and Belva Catherine Gilley Dulaney, she was born Jan. 13, 1905, near Stone Gap in Scott County, Va. She was married to Elbert Lee Arey on Dec. 13, 1923, in Hunt County. She attended schools in Hunt County. Mrs. Arey was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband operating a farm. She later operated a grocery store-service station for a number of years in Floyd. Mrs. Arey was a member of the First Baptist Church in Farmersville and of the Garden Club. She enjoyed entertaining her friends. Survivors are a daughter, Vesta Lee Arey Smartt of Grand Prairie; a son, Bobby Arey of Garland; sisters Dorothy Ray of Greenville and Imogene Longbothom, Willy Terry and Mary Guy, all of Baytown; a brother, Alvin Glasscock of Bovina; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Walter Burt Arey; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers are Kenni Smartt, Blair Brown, Addison Puckett, Mark Ratterree, Chris Colbert, Steve Arey and David Williams. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, Farmersville. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Farmersville.
