Bonnie Lois Cagle

Bonnie Lois Cagle, 82, of Quinlan died the morning of July 14, 2008, at Renaissance Hospital in Terrell. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church in Quinlan under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville. Rev. Larry Krohn, Rev. Wally Williams, Rev. David Hammonds and Robert Jackson will officiate. Burial follows in Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville.

Born May 27, 1926, in the Sunset Community in Hunt County, she was the daughter of Richard Hugh and Mary Ethel Stover Strickland. She was married to Collins James Cagle on Dec. 24, 1953, in Quinlan.

Mrs. Cagle was co-onwer of the Auto Shop along with her husband. She served as the first woman mayor of Quinlan for two terms and a total of 17 years. She was a member of the Hunt County Fair board, a past United Way coordinator; a past member of the Chamber of Commerce in Quinlan, a member of the Hunt County Appraisal Board; past member of the Humane Society and was a member of the Fellowship Club of Quinlan.

Mrs. Cagle was a member of First United Methodist Church in Quinlan.

Surviving are two sisters, Lillian Cannon of Quinlan and Willie Wolfe of Greenville; nephews Gary Cannon and wife Chris of Quinlan, Anthony Cagle of California, Glenn Cagle of Celeste, John Strickland and wife Staci of Fort Worth and James Strickland and wife Lara of Alabama; nieces Judy Childers of Quinlan, Jill Eldridge and husband Mike of Wolfe City, Amy Ripley and husband Randy of Commerce and June Marke of Reno, Nev.; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Strickland of Quinlan; great-nephews Larry Cannon and Eric Wilkins of Colleyville, Scott Cannon and wife Kimberly of Red Oak and Danny Cannon and wife Christie of Houston; great-great-nephews, Aidan Cannon of Houston and Michael Aldridge of Red Oak; two great-great-nieces, Katie Cannon and Karissa Aldridge of Red Oak; and numerous other great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brothers Basil Strickland in 1990, John R. Strickland in 2003, Billy Hugh Strickland in 2002 and Morris Eugene Strickland in 2004.

Pallbearers are Billy Eldridge, Mike Eldridge, Irby Farmer, Randy Ripley, Boyd Shields and Penny Young.
