Claude E. “Ed” Beane, 81, of Greenville died Friday, March 30, 2007, at his home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at Highland Terrace Baptist Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Dr. Ron Lyles and Rev. Larry Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Mr. Beane was born March 4, 1926, in Hunt County to Rufus Pittman Beane and Eunice Cora Goode Beane. He married Ramona V. Martin on July 13, 1946, in Savoy. He was a World War II veteran who served in the United States Navy. He was an insurance agent and a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona V. Beane of Greenville; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Edward and Ann Beane of Mt. Pleasant, David Perry and Pennie Beane of Kansas City, Mo., and Glen Martin and Agnes Beane of Carlsbad, Calif.; grandchildren Gregory Beane of Pittsburg, Tex., and Tyler Beane of Kansas City, Mo.; and grandchild and spouse Casey and Shannon Beane of Kansas City, Mo.; and one great-grandchild, Mason Beane of Kansas City, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ross Beane, Oren Lamar Beane, Joseph Terrell Beane, Von Rhea Beane and Harold Buford Beane; and sisters Clara Beane, Chloe Beane Bolton and Maurine Beane Young.

Pallbearers are Kenneth Walker II, Tom C. Lyles, Kenneth Wayne Beane, Bill R. Beane, Paul R. Beane and Bobby R. Beane.Honorary pallbearers are Bob Pippin, Bill E. Young, Jerry Beane, Mike Beane, Kirk Walker, Charles Martin, Alan Martin, Joe Beane, John Beane, Paul Lyles, John Bratcher and Max Patterson.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice or Vista Care Hospice.
