Martha Caroline Burns Cryer

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 8, 1954, in the James-Coker-Peters Funeral Chapel for Mrs. J. R. Cryer, 57, former Hunt County resident who died about 8:00 AM, Monday, June 7, 1954, in the home of her son, Billy Ray Cryer, in Dallas.

The Rev. T. Lee Miller, pastor of the Kavanaugh Methodist Church, officiated for the service and interment was in Southland Memorial Park in Grand Prairie.

Pallbearers were Millard Titus, Floyd Bostick, Preston Hopewell, Marion Morgan, Rayford Sikes, and Coburn Moser.

Mrs. Cryer was born and reared in Celeste and was well known in this section. The former Martha Caroline Burns, she was married to J. R. (O. R.) Cryer on December 20, 1922. She was active in the Methodist Church.

Her death followed several months illness.

She is survived by her husband; and two sons, Billy Ray Cryer of Dallas and James A. Cryer of Grand Prairie; five step-children, Mrs. Lee Bostick and Mrs. J. W. McWilliams of this city, and A. L. Cryer of Dallas, P. R. Cryer and J. C. Cryer of Grand Prairie; and a brother, Andy Burns, of Celeste.

One son, Leon Cryer, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Maudie Doyle, preceded her in death.
