Eddie Lester Farmer, 91, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at his home.

A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at 10 a.m. in the Lynch Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Jim Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at DFW National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

Mr. Farmer was born Aug. 16, 1915, in Hemlock, N.C., to Stacy and Celia Farmer. He proudly served his country for 30 years before retiring from the U.S. Navy. He was a chief warrant officer-4. He was a survivor of Pearl Harbor and served in World War II, and he was a charter member of BPOE 2437 of Greenville.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Farmer; daughters Nenita Bendersky and husband, Andrew, Leslie Cave and husband, Kevin; sisters Effie Myers, Grace Nickle and Ruth Kennedy; grandchildren Anna, Amber and Allison; two stepgrandchildren, James and Tyler, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene, and nine siblings.
