John Friend Dead
John Friend, colored, aged about 55 years, died at Mineral Wells
early last Friday and was buried at Celeste Monday. John lived on
O. S. Ferguson's place in the north part of town and was said to
have been an industrious and upright man. His health had been
failing for some time and he had gone to Mineral Wells to seek
relief but without avail. His wife died only a few months ago,
both deaths, it is said, having resulted from having had the flu
last winter. Deceased is survived by several children and stepchildren.
