George Marion Chaney

George Marion Chaney, retired railroad section hand worker and a native of the Lane community, died at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, March 11, 1959, at his home, 4408 First Street, Greenville.

He had been in failing health for nine years and seriously ill for the past year.

Funeral services are pending with James-Coker-Peters Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Celeste.

Born in the Lane community on October 3, 1894, Mr. Chaney was the son of George P. Chaney and Sarah A. Chaney. He was member of the First Baptist Church in Celeste, and was married to Miss Lestie Pittman on May 29, 1916. He had made his home in Celeste until moving to Greenville.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Billie J. Waddle, Greenville; three sons, Kenneth Chaney, Greenville, Bobby D. Chaney, Dallas, and Malcolm R. Chaney, Seaside Heights, New Jersey; two sisters, Mrs. Cynthia Quick, Coolidge, Arizona, and Mrs. Edna Sellers, San Marcos, Texas; five grandchildren, Glenda Waddle and Randy Waddle, Greenville; Billy Chaney, Carol Chaney, and James Chaney, Seaside Heights, New Jersey; one daughter, Helen Chaney and a son Don Chaney, preceded him in death.
