Virgil Eugene Hazal
Celeste--October 1, 1954 (Spl)--Virgil Eugene Hazal, 67, prominent dairy farmer of this section and prominent community leader, died suddenly at 6:30 AM, Friday, October 1, 1954, at his home on the Celeste-Lane farm-to-market road near Lane.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 3, 1954, at the Celeste Methodist Church, with the pastor officiating. Burial was in the Celeste Cemetery.
Mr. Hazal's death was attributed to a heart attack. He arose early Friday as usual and went to the barn with other members of his family to attend to his cattle. Not feeling well, he returned to the house and a few minutes later, he was found dead by his wife.
Surviving are his wife, the former Pansy Elam; two sons, Paul Eugene and J. W. Hazal of Celeste; two grandchildren, Larry Gene Hazal and Mary Lou Hazal; three brothers, Ollie Hazal of Trenton, L. L. Hazal of Temple, and R. L. Hazal of Abilene; two (sic) sisters, Mrs. C. E. Parr of Celeste, Mrs. Clyde Elam of Celeste, and Mrs. T. W. Bookout of Palestine, Mrs. O. Cochran of Bonham, and Mrs. E. O. Smith of Celeste.
Pallbearers were H. H. Furr, Ira Hunter, C. C. McGuire, Hubert Shields, Jacque Bickham, and Byrid Glasscoe.
