J. D. Burns, 80, of Greenville, died the morning of July 6, 2006, at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Memoryland Memorial Park under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Kenny Stone will officiate.
Son of William Fred Burns and Ruby Ausburn Burns, he was born on September 5, 1925, in Celeste. On December 1, 1945, he married Eula Mae White in Celeste. Mr. Burns was a retired truck driver for Gulf Oil Corporation. He was a member of Family Fellowship in Greenville.
Surviving are his wife of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny Burns and Cindy Burns of Greenville; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane Grant and Joe Grant of Rowlett; sisters Dorothy Evans and Kathy Landrum of Greenville, Betty Norfleet of Mount Pleasant and Freddie Sorrow of Wolfe City; and three grandchildren, Brian Couch of New York City, New York, Christian Odom of Rockwall and Colter Burns of Greenville.
Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM today, Friday, July 7, 2006, at the funeral home.
