Jewell L. Buettner

Missoula, Montana - Jewell L. Buettner passed away Monday, November 27, 2006, at Village Health Care Center, from natural causes.

She was born June 1, 1912, in Celeste, Texas, to George Aubrey Jones and Kallie Carolyn Swindle Jones. She was graduated from high school in Texas. Her family also lived in Hugo, Oklahoma.

After her first marriage did not work out, Jewell married Edwin Buettner in Hungry Horse. After moving to Hungry Horse, Jewell and her son, Gene, then spent some time in California and then Alaska. Jewell discovered her love for waiting tables at Jimmy Lees Restaurant. In 1953, the couple purchased a house in Missoula, although they continued to live in Alaska four more years.

Jewell has shared her love with friends and family with her many talents of sewing (made with love by Bamma), quilting, crocheting, gardening, and, of course, cooking.

Jewell is preceded in death by brothers, Cannon Jones, Hubert Jones, Aubrey Jones, Santee Jones, Ray Jones, Ralph Jones, Dean Jones, and Gary Jones; and sisters, Viola Jones and Ruby Jones.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin Buettner; sister, Scotty Sue Wall and husband Carl Wall, of Texas; son, Gene Moree and wife Janis Moree of Bozeman; grandsons, John Moree (Cindy) of Missoula, Richard Moree (Liz) of Missoula; great-grandchildren, Gabe Moree of Missoula, Corporal Mike Moree stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, David Moree, Mellissa Moree, Derek Moree and Brian Moree, all of Missoula; great-great-granddaughter, Chauntel Moree of Missoula; and many nieces and nephews as well as great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Viewing hours will be 5:00 -7:00 PM, Monday, December 4, 2006, at Garden City Funeral Home and Tuesday from 11:30 AM until service time of 1:00 PM. A reception will follow in the funeral home's community room, followed by private interment at Missoula Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Missoula Youth for Christ or the Missoula Food Bank.
