Joe Bob Chastain

Emory--Services for Joe Bob Chastain, 74, of Emory, will be at 2:30 PM, August 30, 1993, at Wilson-Orwasky Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Waller and G. D. Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Emory Cemetery.

Mr. Chastain died Sunday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.

He was born on October 3, 1918, in Emory, to Cliff Chastain and Mae Alexander Chastain. He was married to Mary Bloodworth on February 16, 1939, in Greenville. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army and was a retired US Postal employee after forty-four years. He was a basketball official for thirty-two years and an assistant funeral director for Hood Funeral Home for several years. Mr. Chastain was a member of the Emory Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; a son, Robert Chastain of Emory; a daughter Betty Jo Chastain of Mesquite; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Pallbearers will be Ivan Alexander, Jr., Eddie Holley, Eddie Jones, Frank Goff Alexander, Floyd Greene, and Leon Clark. Honorary pallbearers are Dick Carpenter, Woody Morris, Charles Sauceman, W. M. Pete Rhodes, and L. B. Bodie Mills.

The family asks that memorials be made to the Emory Youth Association.
