HUNTSVILLE — Lyda Ruth Horton Henry Ayers, 80, died Dec. 28, 2006 in Conroe.

Visitation for Lyda will begin at noon today at Huntsville Funeral Home with the family receiving guests from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Jan. 1, 2007, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Huntsville. Interment will follow in the Adickes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery also in Huntsville under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home.

Lyda was born Nov. 8, 1926, in Greenville, to Wade R. and Frances B. Rawson Horton.

She was married to W.H. “Dub” Henry, Jr. in December of 1943, and after his death in December 1957, she married Frank M. Ayers in April of 1960, who also precedes her in death. Lyda had a long and wonderful career as a homemaker and was a dedicated, loving mother and friend. She was very talented in many ways. Her artistic abilities came to light in everything she pursued. She was an avid gardener and artist. Her appreciation for Jehovah’s creation was reflected in her paintings. She will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her. We can be comforted in knowing that she will remain in God’s memory and be reunited with her friends and loved ones in paradise.

Lyda was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Raymond A. Henry; her siblings, John Horton, Fred Horton, Chad Horton, Douglas Horton, Wayne Horton, Bun R. Horton, J.C. Horton, Lena Estell Horton, Frances Horton, Clemintine Horton, Jenna Horton, Morris Horton and two infant brothers.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Jane Oliver and husband Jimmy Wayne, Sharon Ann Willaby, Barbara Sue Williams, Mary Catherine Chennault and husband Jimmy, and Chris Henry; grandchildren, Cheryl L. Hathorn and husband Bryan, Dale McMayon, Jeff Willaby and wife Debra, Greg Willaby and wife Monica, Chris Willaby and wife Amy, Ronnie Purdy and wife Karen, Clint Cummings, Jonathon Phelps, Sarah Winn, Mellissa Bird and husband Charles, James Chennault and wife Carrie, John Wayne Henry, Rayla Ann Henry and Taron Diane Henry; 22 great-grandchildren; step-children, David Ayers and Janet, George Ayers, John Ayers, and Martha Manini and husband Gary; as well as other special loved ones, Joe Mac Henry and wife Mayme, Bernice Coleman and husband Kenneth, Ila Henry, Ollie Oliver, Willie Margaret Van Hess, Jimmie Dickens and husband Lloyd and the Huntsville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving friends and relatives.
