Maggie Lee Davis

Maggie Lee Davis passed away peacefully the night of March 2, 2007, at Greenville Health and Rehab surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Caddo Mills on April 9, 1916, she was the daughter of Tom and Lubertha Hendrik. She was married to Reecy Davis Sr. in 1935; he preceded her in death in 1978.

Mrs. Davis performed domestic work for many years in Greenville and was well known for taking care of several children in the community. They all called her “Aunt Maggie.”

She was a member of Wesley Chapel C.M.E. Church in Greenville for many years. She faithfully served as a member of the Usher Board, a member of the choir, was a stewardess, a member of the missionaries and was on the financial committee.

Mrs. Davis leaves to cherish her memories her only child, Reecy Davis Jr. and wife Pat; two sisters, Augusta Timmons of Greenville and Bertha Bell Petty of Dallas; six grandchildren, Richard Davis and wife Felicia, Reecy Davis III and Mashalla Patterson-Davis, all of Greenville, Christopher Davis and Maria of Commerce, Tyrik Davis and wife Rayshon of Wylie and Leanetta Pryor and husband Larry Sr. of Sulphur Springs; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; Sandy Lane Burger, who was raised and loved like a daughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Fannie Murle Brigham; a brother, George Hendrik and grandson Micheal Davis.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wesley Chapel C.M.E. Church.

Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at Grace & Mercy Funeral Home.
