Major Raymond Chumley

Retired U.S. Air Force Major Raymond F. Chumley, 75, was born in Greenville. He received an electrical engineering degree from East Texas State in Commerce and retired from the U.S. Air Force with 23 years of service. His last assignment was at Offutt Air Force Base where he served with the 55th Maintenance Squadron. As an experimental design engineer, Ray also retired from Valmont Industries. He enjoyed gardening and his beloved pets. Ray is survived by his spouse, Ann Chumley; a son, Perry Ray Chumley; daughter Sherry Kay McLaughlin and granddaughters Maleah Rae Chumley, Nicole and Amanda McLaughlin; and cousins Billie Jo and O.D. Williams and Lida Stewart, all of Greenville. Services are at 3:30 p.m. on April 29, 2006, in the chapel of Kavanaugh United Methodist Church in Greenville with Rev. Joel Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
