Marie Eugenia Howse, 93, of Greenville passed away Saturday at a local nursing home. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow at East Mount Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday. Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born to F.E. and Roma (English) Howse on Nov. 12, 1913, in Greenville. She received a teaching degree from East Texas Teacher’s College and later earned a masters degree from Columbia University in New York. She served in many teaching positions throughout Texas and also worked in the field of library science. She also served as county librarian.

Eugenia was a faithful member of he Kavanaugh Methodist Church, and like most of us, she did not leave a large footprint on the face of the earth — but she left large impacts on people’s hearts.

She is survived by a nephew, Robert M. Howse of Lancaster, Pa.; a niece, Judy Howse Sheltman of Greenville; four great-nieces and three great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Alyoce English Howse.
