WOLFE CITY — Ted Barker, 97, of Wolfe City died Friday, June 16, 2006, in Smith Nursing Home. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Kevin Mitchell officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Mr. Barker was born Aug. 10, 1908, to John W. and Pearl Mae Shadden Barker in the Durham Community near Wolfe City. He married Edith M. McCright on June 18, 1930, in Ardmore, Okla. Mr. Barker was a blacksmith and farmer. He was a Baptist. Surviving are daughters, Mary Fowler of Bakersfield, Calif. and Helen Raper of Lodi, Calif.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Lydia Smithey of Floyada. He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 1, 2001 Pallbearers are Jim Fowler, Ed Fowler, Gary Raper, Colin Owens, Bryan Fowler and C.D. Giddens. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, which is in charge of arrangements.
