Theron (Boody) T. Collins, Jr. died Oct. 16, 2006 at the age of 92, after a short illiness. He was the son of Tilford and Cora Lee Collins who owned the Collins Furniture Store in Greenville. After graduating from Rice and the Paper Institute in Wisconsin, he spent his career working in the pulp and paper industry. He developed and patented a scrubber which helped change the way pulp was made into paper. After his corporate work, he volunteered to work for the United Nations in Cambodia, India, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and the Philippines. Mr. Collins enjoyed city politics and using his chemistry background to make batches of homemade wine. He was a unique character and will be missed. Mr. Collins is survived by three children, Terre McNamara and husband Terry, Theron Collins and wife Jan, and Jane Collins; a sister, MaryAnn Hilton and husband, Wilburn; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Harvey and his second wife, Bonita Bufka and two grandsons. The family plans a private memorial service.
